Northwestern Information Technology and the Office of the Provost are proud to present TEACHx, an annual event designed to:
- Be the spark that encourages innovation in teaching.
- Showcase instructors who are pioneering experiments in teaching and learning through technology.
- Highlight opportunities for collaboration among instructors, students, learning designers, and educational technology specialists.
- Bring together the digital learning community of practice to share reflections on and experiences in blended and online learning, learning analytics, and active learning spaces.
Now in its tenth year, TEACHx has had an incredible wealth of keynote speakers that embody the spirit of TEACHx, all who've gone on to do incredible things after their time in Evanston. Catch up with our previous TEACHx keynotes below:

Marcia Chatelain is the winner of the 2021 Pulitzer Prize in History and the 2022 James Beard Foundation Book Award for writing.

Yevgeniya V. Zastavker is a founding faculty member at Olin College who empowers engineering students through collaborative research, mentorship, and international conference participation—work that led her Learning Journeys team to be invited to design a new equity‑focused workshop at Harvard.

Ruha Benjamin is the Founding Director of the Ida B. Wells JUST Data Lab in Princeton University’s Department of African American Studies and a recipient of the 2024 MacArthur Foundation “Genius” Fellowship.

Jasmine Roberts-Crews is the Chair of the Columbus, Ohio LGBTQ+ Affairs Commission and a member of The Ohio State University’s President and Provost’s Council on Women.

Mays Imad was awarded a $250,000 grant to launch a groundbreaking project on student mental health and learning and is a co‑author of Norton’s Guide to Equity‑Minded Teaching.

Bryan Dewsbury is the Principal Investigator of the Science Education and Society (SEAS) program, which studies the social context of teaching and learning, inclusive faculty development, and equity‑centered STEM programming, and the host of the Knowledge Unbound podcast.

Susan D. Blum is the author or editor of 10 books on anthropology, education, and learning cultures and played a central role in articulating and legitimizing 'ungrading' as a serious scholarly and pedagogical movement.

José Antonio Bowen received a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship and composed a symphony that was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in Music.

Spend time learning and connecting with fellow instructors, instructional designers, and technology specialists from Northwestern and other regional higher education institutions. Interactive sessions, interest group meetings, and social events help you expand your teaching community.
